Student Success Workshops

The Office of Student Financial Aid's Student Success Workshops give you a change to enjoy a warm meal while learning about campus and community resources, building skills and gaining tools for school and work, and connecting with other student and staff.  Workshops are held around campus on a variety of dates and locations throughout the semester.

Funding Graduate School 2/6/2020 11:45am – 1:15pm Pres House Student Center, 731 State Street It’s always good to plan ahead. We will be talking about the different types of funding available while pursuing your graduate school program.
What’s Your Style? 2/12/2020 4:30pm – 5:30pm Union South TITU Everyone is a leader, but we all have our own style! Join this workshop to learn about your leadership style and how that informs your motivation, actions, and communication approach.

Common Financial Mistakes 2/20/2020 5:30pm – 7:30pm 1335 Health Sciences Learning Center (HSLC) Lisa Andrews, Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Faculty Associate in SOHE, will be presenting on common financial mistakes that people make throughout their lifetimes. Come join us to learn more about how to set yourself up for financial success! No previous finance knowledge or experience necessary.
Hello? Are you there? 2/25/2020 5:00pm – 6:00pm Union South TITU Communication is difficult when we all have different approaches! During this workshop we will explore various communication styles and learn about your personal communication style.  Additionally, we will talk formal and informal communication within the college setting!

Mind Your Stress 3/11/2020 5:30pm – 6:30pm Overture Room, Gordon Dining & Event Center Stress can show up at different times and to different degrees. Join us for a workshop to discover ways to recognize and identify your stress and its triggers.  We will discuss resources and ways to reduce your stress in the short-term and in the long-term.

College Budgeting & Money Management 4/2/2020 11:45am – 1:15pm Pres House Student Center, 731 State Street We will be talking about different budgeting methods and how we can apply these skills into our daily lives now while we’re in college but also post-graduation.
Are you My Leader? CANCELLED There are many perceptions and preconceived notions about who is and is not a leader? During this workshop we will dive into these perceptions and discuss the ways in which we all are all leaders!

Coaching the Critic Out of You 4/21/2020 5:30pm – 6:30pm Lake Mendota Room, Dejope Hall Our inner critic is full of negative self-talk and can make sure feel pretty miserable. Come and join us for a workshop where we turn our inner critic into an inner coach full of positive self-talk!

Express Credit Check-Ups 4/22/2020 10am – 2pm 1335 Health Sciences Learning Center (HSLC) During this confidential, no-cost, 30-minute appointment, you meet one-on-one with a UW Credit Union financial specialist to review your credit report. You will learn how to improve and maintain a good credit score, build confidence in your finances, and more!
