The University of Wisconsin–Madison has been continuously accredited since 1913. Every ten years the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) conducts a comprehensive review of the university; the last comprehensive review site visit was March 25–26, 2019. In June 2019, UW-Madison received notice of reaffirmation of accreditation, with the next comprehensive review scheduled for 2028-29.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison does not require that students receive any specific vaccinations before coming to campus; however, students living in UW Housing are required by Wisconsin State Law to inform the university whether or not they’ve been vaccinated against hepatitis B and meningococcal disease via the UHS Immunization and Health History Form.
